UN International Day of Older Persons

"The Journey to Age Equality'"

The UN International Day of Older Persons is celebrated every year on October 1st. The day highlights the efforts of older persons, civil society, UN organizations and Member States to put older persons on the international development agenda. Each year has its own special theme.

This year, the theme focuses on how to tackle and prevent inequality from becoming too great. The theme is based on the UN Global Goal 10 on 'Reducing Inequality'.

On this day, we here at Bernstorff Castle would like to strike a blow for the older generation and use the day to promote the events and activities we would like to offer in 2020 to the slightly older generation of our local citizens.

Of course, we don't want to discriminate the other way around, so we also have plenty of opportunities for the younger generation of the community.

Where do you go if you want to have some fun and you're not exactly in the target group for a disco trip with "loud" music that you don't quite understand? And where do you go if the stairs to the movie theater are a bit too heavy to climb - and the cinemas don't show the wonderful old movies you want to see anyway?

You go to Bernstorff Castle!

During 2020, we will organize movie nights with dinner (there will be both Polanski and Morten Koch), jazz events, again in 2020 crayfish feast with dancing for all ages, cultural events with history, art and culture. We can also organize historical tours of the castle in connection with a coffee/cake event in our beautiful living rooms.

Yes, we could go on and on.
